We have lots of updates for all of you involved in digital development across Volvo Group, so we'll dive right in. As always, we're eager to hear your thoughts, so reach out with any feedback!

Data grid extended package in early access
The new Web data grid package makes it easy to organize, edit, and display complex tabular data.
The package includes several features which can be easily enabled or disabled to fit your needs: editing, sorting, global filters, pinned columns, row and cell selection, actions, and more.

Charts extended package (early access)
The new Web charts component simplifies data visualization and offers flexible solutions for your app. It's built upon ECharts, generating accessible, highly performant, and responsive charts.
Each of the 16 chart types includes preconfigured settings, fully aligned with the Volvo Group Design System, as well as plenty of customization options to match your requirements.

Tailwind CSS v4.0 update
Our Tailwind framework package now supports Tailwind CSS v4.0, a ground-up redesign of Tailwind CSS, which allows for up to 5x faster builds.
This release brings a few breaking changes in terms of setup, so check our migration guide before you update.
Angular wrappers package (early access)
Our new Angular framework package makes the components in the Development Kit readily available in Angular environments.
This supports efficient development in your team's preferred environment, while maintaining consistency with the Volvo Group Design System.
Optimized Web React library
We recently optimized the Web React framework package, removing unused code and adjusting internal component import paths.
You can now enjoy reduced bundle sizes and higher performance, just make sure to review our brief migration guide first.
New content guidelines published
The UX writing section in the Volvo Experience System now features updated content and guidelines, including:
- UX writing principles — how to approach UX copy creation
- Spelling and vocabulary — language, terminology, and localization best practices
- Writing style — how to communicate with your users
- Grammar — copy structure, punctuation, and capitalization
Refreshed brand voice attributes
The Volvo Brand Experience team published the latest version of the Tone of voice page.
It includes updated brand voice attributes and tips on how to apply tone in writing, with relevant examples for guidance.
Introduction to QA testing in VGDS
We test every component from the Volvo Group Design System for compliance, behavior, and accessibility.
To achieve this, we use a mix of automated and manual tools, along with a team-wide process. Read more about our ways of working in our QA testing article.
Component development status update
All components from our Design System, for both web and mobile platforms, now show the latest status on our dedicated page.
Visit the development status page to see if a component is "up to date", "missing updates", or "not yet available".
New training videos in Navigator
We're adding new learning resources to help everyone get familiar with the Design System, starting with an overview of the Volvo Experience System and a quick introduction to the Design and Development Kits.
We plan to launch a full playlist to onboard all designers, developers, product owners, writers, and marketers to the Volvo Group Design System — coming soon to a screen near you!
Design System team open sessions
We hold regular open sessions to collect ideas and feedback from the design and development community across Volvo Group.
Our next meeting is scheduled for August 18, and we invite you to join and discuss our team's priorities and plans for the second half of 2025.
